ALIGN TEXTURE ON BRUSH
To align a texture around a corner on a brush, select the face you want to align to, Then ALT+Middle-Click on the face you want to align. The newly aligned face will also become selected so you can just keep going on more faces, like around a pillar.
For really smooth texture corners, don’t forget to use this method on the lightmaps as well.

HIDING ITEMS
If your finding it difficult to see what your doing in the XY or 3D view simply select the brushes / patches or even models you want to work with and press ALT + H. This will hide everything else, leaving you with a nice clear view.
Press SHIFT + H to bring everything back.
MOVING BRUSH EDGE
Whilst holding CTRL + LEFT MOUSE CLICK you can drag the edge of a brush.
Simply hold the above keys then drag the edge of the brush you want to move. Very useful if you want to a brush on an angle, whilst retaining its width.

SMOOTH CURVE PATCH
If you want to smooth out a curve patch then simply select the patch and hit SHIFT + ] this will add more verts to the patch. Very usefull if you wish to smooth out an archway.
Should you wish to remove verts simply hit SHIFT + [

PLACING MODELS
If your wanting to place a model around your level with a random size and rotation, then simply select the following:

(Random Drop & Drop level to terrain )
Then
* Place the model you want to copy into the level
* Select the model in radiant (so that is is highlighted)
* Then whilst holding CTRL + ALT simply click in the 3D view where you want your models placed.
This is great for adding grass models ;)

ASSET VIEWER
Asset Viewer is your friend !
Type a keyword in the top window to search for that ideal model.
Here I typed grass (lower case) as below...

COPYING PATCH
If you want to copy a patch but dont want to re-align it (usually this happens when pressing SPACE BAR), simply press CTRL+C then CTRL+V.

This will copy and paste the patch in exactly the same place, avoiding the need to re-align it.

ADDING CUSTOM FILTERS
All you have to do is edit the RadiantFilters.txt file with the relevant textures.!!Back up your file before altering it!!

So, in order to add the various clip filters for example locate RadiantFilters.txt, its in ..\Call of Duty - World at War\bin\ - Simply add :

Geometry MonsterClip fdhide
{
Texture clip_ai
}
Geometry PlayerClip fdhide
{
Texture clip_player
}
Geometry clipClip fdhide
{
Texture clip
}
Geometry fullClip fdhide
{
Texture clip_full
}
Geometry playerviechle fdhide
{
Texture clip_player_vehicle
}
Geometry vehicleclip fdhide
{
Texture clip_vehicle
}
Geometry wepcliptex fdhide
{
Texture clip_weapon
}

Placed this just after :

Geometry Clip fdhide
{
Texture *clip
}

Its that simple !

ROTATING PREFABS/MODELS ON CUSTOM ORIGIN
Did you know that you can rotate a model / prefab at a different origin of your chosing ?

*select the model / prefab you wish to rotate.
*press 'R' to go into rotate mode.
*Hold SHIFT and MIDDLE CLICK at the point of the model /prefab you wish to be the new origin.

( You should see the Pink Origin square move)

- You can now hold LEFT MOUSE to move the model / prefab around its new origin.

This is a great tip for positioning open doors etc

ALIGN DECAL
Ever had trouble aligning a decal or texture on a patch ?

Apart from using the obvious Horizontal / vertical shift in the surface inspector, did you know that you can also select the nearest verts on the patch, then siply use SHIFT + ARROW KEYS to align texture

ALIGN DECAL {Pt2}
Have you ever applied a decal or texture to a patch and after pressing "FIT" the texture aligns the wrong way.

Eg: A door / window texture that appears horizontal instead of vertical !

The reason for this is Radiant thinks that the "TOP" of the patch is actually the side.
(This usually happens when using "Face to Terrain", or when you create a patch in the top down view then rotate it.)

Well did you know you can tell radiant which verts are the top !

Heres how :

Simply select the patch and press SHIFT + CTRL + M, then re FIT the texture.
You will notice the the "TOP" of the patch has moved and the texture will align to the
new "TOP".

Simply keep pressing SHIFT + CTRL + M until the "TOP" is correct.

NOTE : Simply rotating the texture will not usually work as, as soon as you hit FIT the texture will align incorrectly again.
If you want to smooth out a curve patch then simply select the patch and hit SHIFT + } this will add more verts to the patch. Very usefull if you wish to smooth out an archway.
Should you wish to remove verts simply hit SHIFT + [

*TIP #5

If your wanting to place a model around your level with a random size and rotation, then simply select the following:

(Random Drop & Drop level to terrain )
Then
* Place the model you want to copy into the level
* Select the model in radiant (so that is is highlighted)
* Then whilst holding CTRL + ALT simply click in the 3D view where you want your models placed.
This is great for adding grass models ;)

To align a texture around a corner on a brush, select the face you want to align to, Then ALT+Middle-Click on the face you want to align. The newly aligned face will also become selected so you can just keep going on more faces, like around a pillar.
For really smooth texture corners, don’t forget to use this method on the lightmaps as well.

*TIP #2

If your find it difficult to see what your doing in the XY or 3D view simply select the brushes / patches you want to work with and press ALT + H. This will hide everything else, leaving you with a nice clear view.
Press SHIFT + H to bring everything back.
*TIP #3

Whilst holding CTRL + LEFT MOUSE CLICK you can drag an edge of a brush.
Simply hold the above keys then drag the edge of the brush you want to move. Very useful if you want to a brush on an angle, whilst retaining its width.

*TIP #4
Almost everything needed for dogs are in the "map_source\_prefabs\MP\" folder as prefabs. There are 5 things needed to successfully setup your map.
WAR
War is similar to Domination but only one flag can be contested at a time as each team pushes into the enemy base.
War is won when a team has captured all the flags.
Spawns:
**Right click in 2D view -> mp -> uspawn -> influencer
**radius / #
*** # is in units you want the influencer to target spawns.
**script_team / INPUT
***INPUT can be either "allies" or "axis".
****If axis own the flag then the axis influencer is used when determining spawns. Same with allies.
**script_gameobjectname / twar
***Determines what game type this entity will be shown/used in.
**script_twar_flag / INPUT
***INPUT depends on what flag you are editing. Flag Letter / Value to Input
****a / flag1
****b / flag2
****c / flag3
****d / flag4
****e / flag5

*Flag Descriptors

This is almost exactly like Domination:

classname: script_orign

targetname: twar_flag_descriptor

Place one flag descriptor close to each flag. Use the script_linkname and script_linkto properties to say which flags it can be considered "adjacent" to in the level. For instance, if players have a primary path from flag1 to flag2, and from flag2 to flag3, flag2 would have a twar_flag_descriptor with these properties:

script_linkname flag2
script_linkto flag1 flag3

*Area Callsigns

War gametype also allows you to name areas/flags, check THIS TUTORIAL on how to proceed.
----

KOTH
King of the Hill has both teams scrambling to hold a radio that is randomly placed around the map.
KOTH is won when a team has reached the score limit, points are added for length of time radio is held.
Spawns:
*Uses TDM spawns so there are no additional spawns needed, same rules.
Entities:
Place 3 to 7 of these, there can't be more than 7 or less than 3.
*Right click in 2D view -> Misc -> Prefab -> "map_source/_prefabs/MP/war_hq_obj.map"
*Create a trigger that completely surrounds the prefab with some space to spare.
**Right click in 2D view -> trigger -> multiple
**Key / Value" - " targetname / radiotrigger "

----

CTF
Capture the Flag has both teams defending their flag and trying to capture the enemy's flag.
The game is won when a team has reached the capture limit.
Spawns:

This tutorial will explain in detail how to add Decals to your maps. In this tutorial I will show you how decals can give a room a much more realistic feel to them.

There are several techniques to add decals in a map, this is only one of them!

----

Lets start by creating a simple room. Here I have room with two windows and an internal light source, which can be altered later.

Now here is how the room looks ingame.
As you can see its not very realistic nor is it very detailed.

----

Lets start by creating a "Terrain Patch" to cover the entire wall.

Once thats done apply the "ch_dec_darkstain_01" to it.

----

Create another "Terrain patch" but this time place it at the top of the wall, taking care not to cover your windows or doors.

Once thats done apply the texture "me_decal_adobe_top_01" to it.

----

We now need to create another "Terrain Patch" but this time place it at the bottom of your wall and use the "me_decal_adobe_bottom_01" texture.

----

As you can see the wall is looking pretty good although the ceiling / floor now stands out.

----

Create a "Terrain Patch" to cover your entire ceiling, and again apply the "ch_dec_darkstain_01" to it.

----

Create another "Terrain Patch", this time move it close the the ceiling edge and add the "me_decal_adobe_top_01" to it.

Copy & paste the terrain patch around all the edges of your ceiling. Taking care to rotate and align the texture as needed.

To give a better finish edit your patch in the corners so that it joins as shown in the image below. (this will stop the patch overlapping in the corners)

Here is how they will look when joined together.

----

If we jump in game we can now see how both the wall and ceiling now have an authentic feel to them.

----

For the floor you can cheat ;)

Simply select all the "Terrain Patches" you used on your ceiling then hit the "SPACE BAR". This will copy all the selected patches.

Lower the patches until they are level with your floor then hit "CTRL + I" this will invert your textures so they now show on the floor.

Which in game looks much better.

----

Now you have one wall completed you can simply copy and paste the patches around the other walls of your room. Taking care to resize and re-align the textures if needed.

Once complete you should have something that looks like this.

----

Now that we have the basic decals in place we can set about adding the smaller details to the room that really bring it to life.

Lets start by adding a rug or two to the floor.

Create a new "Terrain Patch" and make it level with your floor. (An quick way to do this would be to copy & paste the patch that currently covers your entire floor)

Apply the "com_persian_rug_01" to it and resize the patch until it looks something like you want.

If you want more than 1 rug simply copy and paste the patches over the floor area.
You can even rotate some of the patches slightly to give it a more random feel to it. To do this select that patch you want to rotate and hit the "Free Rotate" button .

----

Next I will show you how to add decals to your walls.

Lets go back to the wall we started with and select any of the "Terrain Patches" that you created earlier.

* TIP: An easy way to select the correct patch is to "right click" the mouse over the area in the 3D Preview window. As shown below.

Once you have selected a patch simply hit the "Space Bar" to copy the patch.

Apply the texture "ch_wallpaper_tear01".

You can now move and alter the newly created patch as you wish.

Here I have reduced it and placed it next to a window.

You can now just simply copy this patch and place it randomly around the room.

Dont be afraid to try other decals on the walls.

Here I've added a poster using the same process.

----

You can now finish the room off by adding some models and playing around with the lighting.

Here is my finished version.

BEFORE

AFTER
There are several techniques to add decals in a map, this is only one of them!

----

Lets start by creating a simple room. Here I have room with two windows and an internal light source, which can be altered later.

Now here is how the room looks ingame.
As you can see its not very realistic nor is it very detailed.

Lets start by creating a "Terrain Patch" to cover the entire wall.

Once thats done apply the "ch_dec_darkstain_01" to it.
Create another "Terrain patch" but this time place it at the top of the wall, taking care not to cover your windows or doors.

Once thats done apply the texture "me_decal_adobe_top_01" to it.

----

You can then finish the room off by adding some models.

Here is the finished version.

BEFORE

AFTER

Apply the "com_ch_me_rug_01" to it and resize the patch until it looks something like you want.

If you want more than 1 rug simply copy and paste the patches over the floor area.
You can even rotate some of the patches slightly to give it a more random feel to it. To do this select that patch you want to rotate and hit the "Free Rotate" button .

----

Next I will show you how to add decals to your walls.

Simply select all the "Terrain Patchs" you used on your ceiling then hit the "SPACE BAR". This will copy all the selected patches.

Lower the patches until they are level with your floor then hit "CTRL + I" this will invert your textures so they now show on the floor.

To give a better finish edit your patch in the corners so that it joins as shown in the image below. (this will stop the patch overlapping in the corners)

Here is how they will look when joined together.

----

If we jump in game we can now see how both the wall and ceiling now have an authentic feel to them.

----

If we jump in game we can now see how both the wall and ceiling now have a authentic feel to them.

----

For the floor you can cheat ;)

Simply select all the "Terrain Patchs" you used on your ceiling then hit the "SPACE BAR". This will copy all the selected patches.

Lower the patches until they are level with your floor then hit "CTRL + I" this will invert your textures so they now show on the floor.

Which in game looks much better.
This tutorial will explain in detail how to add Decals to your maps. In this tutorial I will show you how decals can give a room a much more realistic feel to them.

There are several techniques to add decals in a map, this is only one of them!

----

Lets start by creating a simple room. Here I have one with two windows and an internal light source, which can be altered later.

To give a better finish edit your patch in the corners so that it joins as shown in the image below. (this will stop the patch overlapping in the corners)

Here is how they will look when joined together.

----

If we jump in game we can now see how both the wall and ceiling now have a authentic feel to them.
